The Toyota Tacoma has been awarded a couple of major awards over the years like being chosen as the Motor Trend Magazine Truck of the Year in 2005. This is one of the most prestigious awards a vehicle can win.Toyota trucks have been named the Truck of the Year on four occasions beginning in 1989 and most recently the Toyota Tundra was chosen in 2008.
The 2010 Toyota Tacoma was named by Kelley Blue Book as a Top 10 Overall Vehicle in their annual Best Resale Value Awards. The 2010 Tacoma didn’t just make the top 10 in its category; it won the mid-size truck category. That was the second year in a row that the Toyota Tacoma led the mid-size truck segment in maintaining its value.
2005-2010 Toyota Tacoma
The second generation Toyota Tacoma was launched in 2005 and offered a larger more powerful truck. The Tacoma had loads of features and offered truck buyers plenty of choice. Toyota truck buyers could choose from three different cab configurations, two engine choices, four transmission options and two truck bed lengths. A new trim level called X-Runner was introduced replacing the dated S-Runner trim level.
There have been minimal changes to the Tacoma through the 2005-2010 model years. A few changes in the optional equipment lineup and some new 
color combinations along the way have helped keep the Tacoma fresh. In 2009 the Tacoma underwent a slight refresh getting new LED tail lamps and some models received a revised grille. The TRD Offroad and TRD Sport models were given a smoked headlight trim. The Double Cab models were available with an optional backup monitor.
Texas used truck buyers will be happy to know the Toyota Tacoma is built in San Antonio, Texas since 2009. The Tacoma is built in the same plant that builds the full size Toyota truck the Tundra.
